You’ve probably heard of this super group made up of Robert Palmer, John Taylor and Andy Taylor of Duran Duran on bass and guitar respectively, and Tony Thompson of Chic on drums, via their best known track “Some Like It Hot” which unequivocally showcases the sound on offer from the band.
I’ve got a theory that the best songs on albums are usually the odd numbered ones, and this song fits that mold, tracking 3rd on group’s eponymous first album.
This one is a restrained and simmering song about the electricity of falling for someone. The lyric that seals the deal for me is “I can’t remember life without your music”. The syncopation of marimba-toned synth overlay on a crisp and funky drumbeat offset the soulful sensuality of Palmers voice that finds room to move in the tight production of the track.
