Toronto-based synthpop duo Electric Youth, made up of Bronwyn Griffin and Austin Garrick, are almost too adorable for words. Their songs are all happy and synthy and good, and even when they skew kind of sad they somehow manage to be uplifting. Perhaps best of all, they’ve been a couple since 8th grade. I love them.
Most people will recognize the sound of Electric Youth if they saw Drive; their song “A Real Hero” runs throughout the film, serving as an anthem for the nameless Driver. But that song, (as much as I adore it, and the film that it’s attached to) is not the one I’m bringing to you today.
No, today I want to take some time to reflect on what it means to grow up.
Where have you gone, sweet innocence?
