Jon Recommends “I Had a Real Good Lover” by The Shouting Matches

We all love Justin’s work in Bon Iver, but where does the man flex that root energy we all know is waiting in there?

The Shouting Matches, obviously. Who knew falsetto could bring even more soul to the stanky, spacey, riffy blues? Justin and Brian Moen (and later Phil Cook), apparently.

For all the “Splooshing” going on over the emotion expressed in projects like good winter, somehow this personification of hot breath and fogged windows flew relatively under the radar.

So pour something over the rocks, sit back and think about what you had. And then let it float downstream with every dirty riff.

Promise you will feel better.
