Sam Recommends: “Merry Christmas Baby” by Otis Redding

There’s two kinds of people in this world:

1. People, like my sister, who LOVE Christmas music, and start playing it nonstop starting the day after Thanksgiving.

2. People, like me, who could take it or leave it.

I don’t mind hearing the classic Christmas tunes in the days leading up to the big day. Especially because I have a lot of wonderful childhood memories connected to those songs. But I definitely wouldn’t call myself a fan of Christmas music, either.

Maybe that’s why I gravitate toward the less traditional Christmas tracks, like this one from Otis Redding.

In my mind, it’s more of a love song than a Christmas song, and I could see myself listening to it in June without feeling like a *total* psycho.
