Jon Recommends “The Son of Flynn” by Daft Punk

Sometimes the movie makes us love the soundtrack. And sometimes the soundtrack makes the movie.

No idea which one it is for Tron Legacy, but I don’t care. Either in the movie, or in the song itself, “The Son of Flynn” by Daft Punk is just another reason to love the mysterious & otherworldly.

I could talk for ages (at least ten minutes) on the greatness that was the Tron series. How imaginative the first one was. How expanding Legacy…well, expanded the legacy, or how the amazing animated series made me cry as it was cut short on one of the biggest flippin’ cliffhangers of all time.

(Leave it to my Disney dogs to ruin a good thing because too many adults were watching it and not willing to pay extra money to buy the new channel it got moved to). Dramaaaa. Tangent.

As it feels to me, the song is a hopeful call from a hidden voice on The Grid, infiltrating speaker wires to reach your brain. Should you await the day your program is dereed and turn to bits of info swimming in the sea of information? Or should you live life as a user, more flesh and bone than bytes and pixels.

Choose.

But make it quick, the song is like a minute and a half.
