Kevin Recommends: “Highwayman” by The Highwaymen

3/4s of badass right here

Outlaw country supergroup The Highwaymen killed it with this one, guys. Chronicling events in the existence of a restless, immortal spirit spanning 18th century robbery, 19th century sailing, 20th century government works projects (I guess?), and 2Xth century cosmic space travel, this song spins a fantastic tale of mystery and adventure.

I’ve always kind of scratched my head over Kris Kristofferson’s inclusion in the band, because like, homey’s cred isn’t nearly as badass as Willie Nelson, Waylon Jennings, or Johnny Cash. He acted / sang with Barbra Streisand for fuck sakes, and, no disrespect to Babs, but she’s as far away from badass as I can imagine.

But I guess Kris Kristofferson did land a fucking helicopter on Johnny Cash’s front lawn that one time just to give him a demo tape, and that is, admittedly, pretty badass.

Either way, check out their version of “Highwayman.” The video is incredible.
